Here is some information about how we teach. At WISE English, we aim to provide a unique learning experience – one that is designed around our students’ needs. When you come to study with us, we will review your current level of English. We will take the time to find out what you want to learn and how you want to learn.
This way, we can create a programme that is suitable for you.
One-to-One Learning
This form of learning means that there is only ONE student in the class with ONE teacher. Don’t be afraid – it is a great way to learn. It means that the teacher can focus on your strengths and weakenesses without worrying about (or waiting for) other students. You can learn the things you want quickly, practise the areas you need, and the teacher can design the course to include special vocabulary or situations.
For example, if you are working in the hospitality industry, your teacher can give you materials and role-plays about managing or working in a hotel or restaurant. The vocabulary will be related to the industry. You can practise language about how to respond to customers or complaints, for instance.
Another example: If you are a nurse, we can include materials for dealing with patients, doctors and other people in your industry.
Small Private Groups
Sometimes, you want to learn with a friend or two. This is wonderful too. You and your friend(s) can tell us what you want to learn, and we will design the course with you.
It is the same as one-to-one learning, except with a few more people. The good thing is that you are all learning the same things that you want to learn.
Closed Groups
We work also with organisations who want to send us groups of students. Again, we will find out what the group wants to learn, what their level of English is, and what other requirements they would like. Then, we will create the programme for the group.
Lessons will be ‘closed’ – which means that we will teach the group only. We will not place any students who are not part of the group in the same class. Typically, there will be one teacher for ten students. However, we can change the programme depending on what the organisation or group wants. For more information about this, contact us and we will be happy to give you a quote.
